Deep Tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic massage technique that focuses on targeting deeper layer of muscles and connective tissues in the body. It is commonly used to alleviate chronic muscle tension, relieve pain, and improve mobility.

During a deep tissue massage session, the recipient typically lies on a massage table while the practitioner uses their hands, fingers, forearms, and elbows to apply firm pressure and slow, deliberate strokes. The practitioner may also use their body weight and leverage to apply deeper pressure to specific areas of tension or tightness.

The primary goal of deep tissue massage is to break up adhesions (bands of rigid tissue) and release tension that may be causing pain or restricting movement. The pressure applied during the massage can help to loosen tight muscles, improve blood circulation, and promote the healing process.

Unlike relaxation massage, which uses lighter strokes and is focused on inducing a state of relaxation, deep tissue massage can involve more intense pressure and may at times cause discomfort. It is important to communicate with the practitioner and provide feedback regarding the pressure levels to ensure a comfortable experience.

Deep tissue massage is commonly used to address chronic pain and specific musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck and shoulder tension, and sports-related injuries. It can help improve posture, increase range of motion, and relieve conditions like fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis.

After a deep tissue massage, it is common to experience some soreness or tenderness, similar to the feeling after a strenuous workout. It is recommended to drink plenty of water to flush out toxins released during the massage and to allow the body to recover.
